About

Hale Pet Door™ was founded in 1985 in Phoenix, Arizona by S. B (Bill) Hale, Jr.  Over the years we have manufactured safe, secure, energy efficient and attractive pet doors and provided professional installation for the conscientious pet owner. Thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits, even monkeys, pot bellied pigs and tortoises are enjoying the freedom that a Hale Pet Door provides.

Our reputation is based on superior quality, unsurpassed selection and unparalleled customer service. It is reflected through long-term relationships with our franchisees, dealers, factory certified installers and repeat customers throughout the world.

In 2015, manufacturing moved to Canon City, Colorado, so this facility is home to our engineering department, production, distribution center and our wholesale operation’s sales and support division along with National sales, marketing and IT development departments.

At Hale Pet Door our customers’ satisfaction is our priority.  Our skilled staff continually strives to provide our customers (two-legged and four-legged) with exceptional products and excellent service.  We have been “Making Pets Happy Around The World Since 1985™” and are committed to continue doing so.

After more than 30 years in the pet door industry, Hale has seen many developments in technology as well as many pet problems. We are dedicated to finding solutions that offer freedom with security for people and their pets. To that end, in 2008 we revived Hale Security Pet Door as its own division solely concerned with improving home security and animal safety related to the pet door industry. Hale Security Pet Door® manufactures an ever increasing line of security products designed to complement Hale Pet Door’s line of high quality pet doors. These products address many of the concerns which customers have voiced over the years and continue the Hale tradition of being the highest in quality, reliability and customer service.

Will my daughter’s visiting cat (over the weekend) go through my dog’s small double flapped new dog door? Should I keep it closed?

    • Bill Hale says:

Whether your cat will try to use your dog’s door depends on the cat. If you want to leave the pet door open for your dog, but train the cat to stay away, you can use aversion training as described here: https://halepetdoorpettips.com/2014/08/

Usually it takes some time to train a cat to use a pet door, but if you’re worried about her getting out, you can always close the security cover or lock her in different room if you’re going to be out of the house for a long period and still want your dog to use the dog door.

      Hope this helps,

      Hale Pet Door
